The high-speed water pipe/channel flow facility at the Laboratory of turbulent flows is a 12-meter-long recirculating loop. Fluid is propelled using a centrifugal pump with a maximum flow rate of approximately 64 litres per second. The loop is equipped with several sensors and flow control devices including a Coriolis flow metre, differential pressure transducers, thermocouple, and shell/tube heat exchanger. The pipe sections of different diameter can be swapped or inserted into the flow loop. The current pipe section has an internal diameter of 50 mm. The channel section is 3 metres in length and has a 15 mm by 120 mm cross section. The maximum Reynolds number we have tested in the flow loop was 750 000 for water at a flow rate of 30 litres per second.
