This flow loop features the main components of a car’s cooling system as well as over 7 meters of 1” stainless steel pipe for measuring skin friction and heat transfer properties. The flow is driven by a car’s water pump connected to a 1.5 hp motor. Up to 2.1 kW of heat can be added through the heated reservoir, while up to 3 kW of heat can be removed through the chilled bath containing the radiator. Various test ports around the loop allow for precise measurements of temperature and pressure drop.
